I've been looking to do a retrofit of projectors on my Speed Triple. Looking at the normal Bi-Xenon, I started leaning towards LED projectors. Now, I catch figure out how they exactly work. I get the just of reflectors in usual headlights.

First: Do the LEDs use reflectors or just use the projector lense to magnify the beam?

Second: how do Bi-LEDs work? Are they like BiXenons with a cut off? Or do the use a second LED? Or neither?

Teach me....

Thanks

it looks like the Retrofit Source is selling some very reasonably priced kits (at least for the non-bi LEDs ... Corolla and Murano).
what I gather so far about them:
I don't know too much about the bi-LEDs either (2nd LED vs solenoid actuated cutoff shield that flips down), but curious to see what anyone has to say who may have tried them already.
I guess they can get hot, so some airflow is probably important over the heatsink,
that might be a consideration when deciding where and how to mount them on a vehicle.
They seem to use a similar configuration as xenons, i.e. a lens to focus the beam pattern.
Up until now I had never considered them because of availability and price.
But it looks like some of them are now in a similar price range as xenon retrofits, which I might try within the next few months myself.

Looks like the are a dual LED for high beam, no cutoff solenoid like bi-xenon according to this thread:

http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?53004-Dual-beam-LED-projector-Lincoln-MKZ

Now, as far as the airflow over heat sink. I'm not too worried for my application. If I can't get enough airflow over the heat sink while on the front of the motorcycle, I need to selling anything with wheels. But yes, it is a common issue.

Ultimately, I want to find/design a bi-LED system with 2 projectors.

Anyone else have any input of the pros/cons between HIDs and LEDs as far as headlights go?

Also, does anyone have any connections?

Bumping this, the only "con" I've heard with HIDs, is the UV output will discolor plastic lenses over time.
