You know... "the full rail switch out the dual full line"

What did you think this was aboot?

You need to take the fuel pressure regulator off the 95 fuel rail and put it on the 99 rail in place of the pulse dampener thing. Route the fuel feed line to the rail and the return line to the FPR.

I was wondering if he was switching over to run the railways. I was just wondering how he was going to pass the slower trains though.

I agree with them its a simple fuel rail swap from a 95 to 99 miata. Make sure to relocate the feeding hose safely.

+1. I can see I need to check the tech tips forum more often...

hey man, just came accrost this thread thought I'd try to lend a hand. I have a 91 I am just finishing up with my msm swap. I can first off tell you that it won't cost near as much as a v8 swap and definatly no where near 20,000.00$. Don't use the msm ecu or wiring harness it will be a nightmare.

Second off the 1.8 engine is just a blown up version of the 1.6. So other than the size difference they are so mechanically like eachother you can run a 1.8 engine off of the 1.6 system.

All I had to do was use all of the 1.8 hardware including engine mounts (or competition mounts for all years) and all of the stock 1.6 sensors (DO NOT USE the Msm alternator with your 1.6 harness it will most likley end up damaging your electronics, just go buy a ninty's model 1.8 alt).

FM makes all of the conversion brackets to mount things like your 1.6 ignition packs, throttle cable and 1.6 throttle body which yes you also have to use.

Now to handle boost (which the stock computer won't handle on its own) I added a few electronics. You have a few paths to take one of which is buying a standalone ecu and changing the style of some sensors, another is adding various electronic and manual controllers to run the engines systems correctly for using a turbo.

This is the path I chose for my power level and budget. so here is what I can say about the non standalone route.

Here are the additional controllers I'm using

One is a controller for the injectors so when you go into boost it will add More fuel. I'm using the voodoo box from FM (for a 1.6) which also handles the 02sensor signal at the same time. You will most likley have to tune the controller.

Another is a timing controller so that under boost it will adjust your engines timing. I'm using an msd unit also from FM.

Booossstt controller! Manual or electronic whichever you feel is better for you.

Other than that I'm using the stock msm injectors and fuel rail which I tapped and re-routed to my own FPR instead of a pulsation dampner which they have on the stock msm fuel rail. (When a pulsation dampener fails many times the result is a burnt down car).

I use full 2003 na exhaust (I'm just looking for stock quiet daily power), u could use a msm exhaust after changing up some hangars.

As far as the intercooler piping, BOV and intake setup that would be up to you.

The stock fuel pump as long as its not super tired should work for low boost Applications.

Don't forget ur afr and boost guages

If its an upgrade ur concidering I say go for it! Lots of fun to be had. The stock system made a solid 178 crank hp and w the aftermarket controllers for fuel and ignition it should be capable of more! Depends on ur settup!

Hope this post helps ! Eliza Annis

It's a Miata...Goes under the slower trains.
