Unseize a seized alternator. I have a 03 Hyundai Accent. It has been sitting for 3 months. Started it today, it burned up the belt. Alternator was not turning.

I liberally applied Sea Foam penetrant to it around 3pm.

Anyone else try to unstick a Alternator? Any tips? I will post my results.

It likely needs the bearings replaced, nothing else will keep it going for long.

Alternately, hit the parts yard.

Many thanks to Ten Toe Turbo, and BrokenYugo. Both were right. The seafoam did not unstick it. I hit a salvage yard and for less than a case of expensive beer had the Accent back running. Easy change too! The alternator was replaced in 45 minutes. Although I removed the rad. which the "Internet Service Manual" does not mention. Had I not removed the rad first, I estimate 2 extra hours. Removing the rad made sense to me and made the job fast.
