New car reviews » 2011 Lexus CT 200h Premium

Better than: Toyota Prius
But not as good as: Mazdaspeed3
GRM Bang For The Buck Index: 69.49

The Lexus lineup has featured hybrids for a while, but here’s their first model that’s only available with gas-electric propulsion. Meet the CT 200h. Sorry, a straight-up gasoline-powered version is not available.

What exactly is it? It’s more or less the Prius drivetrain fitted inside the Corolla chassis. It’s topped off with a five-door wagon that invokes the Mazda3 and then equipped with some Lexus niceties.

You know, I could have sworn that I wrote my comments for this one. Sorry about that.

As far as a highway vehicle, I liked this one: quiet, smooth and typical Lexus. I’m also a big fan of small wagons, something I wish were more common. Is a hybrid the answer? Let’s just say this about that: If you want a small, premium hybrid wagon, this is one to consider.

Check out my blog for more about our time with this one.

Shortest review ever, although I can’t imagine what else I’d like to read about it. Weird that Lexus would think GRM would be the place to test out a new compact hybrid that differentiates itself from a Prius by being more plush…

Yeah, sorry so short. Just posted some comments—plus a link!

Haven’t driven this car and never expect to. That said, I imagine one reason (the principal reason?) GRM was given this car to evaluate is that Lexus/Toyota is HEAVILY marketing this as THE sporty hybrid, both in the U.S. and Europe. Talk about a total con…

What's this?

If you're reading this, you've probably seen these odd links with funny names somewhere on the site and want to know what they're all about. Well, prepare to feel a bit more Net savvy. Those links are what the geeks call "social networks."

Social networking sites allow you to store and share links and pages across the Internet. It's like taking your bookmarks list and being able to see it from any computer.

Even better, social networks allow you to steer friends, relatives, colleagues and pretty much anyone else to the cool stuff you've found, so they have something better to do online than watching the skateboarding squirrel video on YouTube for the thirtieth time. You're making the world a better place.

The only catch is that while all the social networks are free, you do have to register. Each site has a slightly different focus, so take a look through the links and see which service suits you best.
