Rallycross Riot
Thanks to some message board cajoling, it looks like this weekend’s Rallycross event in Tampa will be well attended by GRM staffers and message board regulars.
Editorial ninjas Per and Scott will be co-driving the $100 Neon–look for Per to be fast and Scott to be conservative. $100 dollar Neons can be hard to replace, so Scott’s Integra Type R will serve as the security deposit.
Office noobs Tom and Greg will blast through the course in the Burly Battle Wagon, a 1997 Subaru Outback riding on leftover all-season tires from Tom’s days as a yankee. Tom plans to add at least 40 horsepower thanks to sticker installations before the event.
Rounding out the GRM contingent will be Joe Gearin and his buddy Chad in the homely yet rugged AMC Eagle, assuming the car survives the three-hour drive to Tampa. He’s thrashing to get it running right and insists that he can crush the Subaru even if he has to push. Joe’s plan may also include a visit with Mr. Hertz, just in case.

Homely? Homely? The owner of a Subaru wagon is calling my beautiful, trend setting AMC homely? Hogwash!
Unfortunately, the Mighty AMC will not be attending the Rallycross this weekend. Other POS car fetching duties call, and the flywheel ring gear needs to be replaced before I crush that little Japanesse toy like a discarded soda can!

My parents picked a terrible weekend to come down from Pennsylvania and drag me to Disney.
One of these days I’m going to put my money where my pie-hole is and bring my 2wd Ranger to a rallycross.
