Saab Shake Down Part Deux

We autocrossed our Saab yesterday with CFR SCCA in their Street Modified class, where it was a bit outgunned. No matter–we found that the car was a lot of fun to drive once the course’s tighter offsets were passed and the speeds increased. The car made it through the day with no problems and we saw no major oil leaks from the new drivetrain.

  1. Good to hear the Swanky Swede (the brown bomber?) (the rootbeer rocket?) (the frenzied float?) is running tip top!

I like the number plates. ;)

  2. No MAJOR oil leaks? So where were the minor ones?

  3. There was a little seep from the block/trans mating surface near the rear. Not enough to drip. There’s also a leak from the shift rod area.

  4. The eng to trans bolts from the shifter corner to just mid way thru the starter all have holes that extend thru to inside the gear case, These bolts should have thread sealant or spermatex or even some 518 put upon them. The Shift shaft seal is easier with factory tools to do in situ, If you are to be at VIR June 8 I can ship these tools down and you can return in person.
