The SCCA‘s rallycross board just approved two new classes for all of their events nationwide. Open Category Rear-Wheel Drive and Open Category All-Wheel Drive will be added to catch all cars who exceed the Modified class rules. This means dune buggies, sand rails, kit cars and other custom-built machines will now be allowed to compete.

Is this the class that caused much gnashing of teeth a couple of weeks ago? Something like how it really only fits open-class rally cars or something?

I'm pretty sure it's "build whatever you want as long as it's not stupidly overpowered because rallycross isn't a 100mph sport"
