Blame COVID-19.

HyperFest Presented by Grassroots Motorsports, the annual automotive carnival, has been rescheduled to July 31-August 2. The event will still take place at Virginia International Raceway. Want NASA racing, action and a giant party? It will all be there.

From Chris Cobetto, director of HyperFest as well as NASA’s Mid Atlantic Region: "All tickets, camping passes and activity passes already purchased for the May 15-17 weekend will be honored at the new weekend date."

As a result of the date change, our Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge will take place July 31 and August 1. What does that mean? More time to make your car even faster.

See you at VIR. And wash yo hands.

Good, I should have the Sedona ready in time. The dual-superchargers have some plumbing connections to fine-tune.

Delay gives me more calendar time but unfortunately pandemic doesn't help my plan to get enough driving experience to participate..  I was going to try to get to HPDE 4 this year (went from NASA novice to HPDE 3 last year).  This will probably push my particyback until 2022 because I doubt I will have enough events in 2020 to have a TT licence by May 2021..

Depending on what happens with NHRA scheduling, if facility availability nessacitates that UTTC and The Challenge take place at the same venue and week, I'd support this incredible fusion of opposite ends of the spectrum merging together for a year.

That could be fun and would require less time off from work to do both, but it shortens the prep time for the challenge by a lot.

In a year with so much motorsports being shelved, I wouldn't cry about there being 2 challenges, even if the VA edition did not have awards.

Just putting it out there. If Miller, CRC and the other sponsors were to help get the staffing in place to make it happen, I'd proudly run their decals and logos.
