You Need This: Rally-Bred Opel Manta

Who doesn’t love a rally homologation special? This 1984 Opel Manta 400 is one of just 245 such cars created and one of 12 finished in this silver color. It’ll cross the auction block in the U.K. on December 2 during the Classic Car Auctions December Sale in Warwickshire, England. Estimates have the car selling at £40,000-£50,000—about $53,000-$66,000.

clicking "read the rest of the story" just links me to another page with the exact same text (no "rest of the story" that I can find).

I would have no problems paying $100k even U.K. folding money for a GpB Manta or Ascona.  With one problem.  I don't have the money. crying

You’re definitely not supposed to show me that when there’s a $575 manta for sale locally

Does the manta share dna with the Monza /Sunbird?  I know nothing about the but it looks like it’s only a nose cap away from those beasties..

In reply to 84FSP :

No, I think it's just corporate styling. The Chevrolet Monza was based on the Vega, while the Opel Manta was based on the unrelated (to the Vega) Opel Asona. There wasn't much crossover in platforms between North America and Europe back then; the Chevette was soon to change that.
