Every year, a group of intrepid gearheads attempts to assemble a competitive car for the Grassroots Motorsports $2000 Challenge in a just couple nights—in our host hotel’s parking lot. (Thank you for the patience, Best Western.) They’ve now chosen their victim for the 2017 event: a 1995 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 bought at auction for $778. They’ll break out the welder and let the fun ensue.
