LeGrand Mk 18 : LeGrand Comes Together Jun 2, 2009

We reinstalled our LeGrand’s Kawasaki KZ1000 engine this past weekend. It looks great in the newly painted and reinforced chassis. We’re waiting for the fuel cell bladder to return from Fuel Safe before we fire up the now uprated engine.

The differential is also completely installed in the chassis. In order to accommodate the new sprocket position, we had to use a new chain—one five links longer—to connect the differential with the engine.

Next up, we’re waiting on new uprights and axles to finish off these extensive drivetrain upgrades. Then we can go racing again.

I hope that diff works as good as it looks. Nice job on the install. With the new displacement you need to make VROOM noises, not vroom noises.

I fired it up last night. It's a little deeper..but w/ only 1000cc, it's not James Earl Jones.

Hopefully it's not Michael Jackson either! Did you have to run the exhaust differently with the new rear?

Nope, it got squeezed into exactly the same path, but I needed to extend one pipe by about 1” to clear the now-further-back caliper. If my exhaust went straight back like yours, it wouldn't have been an issue.
