Saab 99: Motor Up! Mar 7, 2008

Tom and Per pulled the engine out of the Saab last night. It was pretty painless, as we had already disconnected everything and it was just lying on its mounts. The driver’s side engine mount was torn completely, so that would explain the jumping engine we experienced at SandBlast.

We spent Saturday stripping, cleaning and welding in reinforcements in our engine compartment. We put an NOS engine bay strengthening kit to use that we found at Carlisle. Although it was meant for an earlier 99, some of the kit worked on our later car. We’ve still got some welding to do to reinforce the front suspension.
