Update by Per Schroeder to the Saab 99 project car
Aug 21, 2007

Last night, we decided to go off in a different direction for a moment. See, our plans to rebuild the suspension and then strip the car for the cage got mixed up when we decided that brakes were also on the list of things to upgrade. We wanted to plumb a hydraulic handbrake in, but that would require removing and rerouting the brake lines that run underneath the carpet. Well, since the carpet has to come out anyway…we decided to just jump ahead (or is that yump ahead?) and start stripping out the interior once and for all.

Next, we’ll go get some dry ice (or liquid nitrogen if we can find a dewar to borrow) to remove the factory sound deadening asphalt sheets.

The back of the rear seat is made out of thick enough steel to make a firewall for the fuel cell in the trunk. It’s also exactly the right shape. So, we unscrewed it from the seat before the seat went to the dumpster.
