We Love Getting Porsche Parts

Since the drivetrain is still separated from the rest of the car, we might as well use new mounts when reinstalling the engine. The entire bill for all four mounts plus shipping was a little less than $100.

We love getting packages. And who doesn’t? The sight of that delivery truck—whether brown, white, yellow or something else—always seems to get the mind turning.

Today’s delivery was a small box of parts for our 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera. The contents: four new engine mounts. Technically two are for the engine and two are for the transmission, but they all carry the same part number.

Since the drivetrain is still separated from the rest of the car, we might as well use new mounts when reinstalling the engine. The entire bill for all four mounts plus shipping was a little less than $100.

We’re also using this opportunity to upgrade from the stock mounts to the slightly stiffer “sport” pieces used on the Cabriolet and Turbo cars. Will it make a huge difference? We’ll see, although the reviews online are promising. The price difference was negligible, so we figured we’d try them.

We must also give some props to Pelican Parts: The box showed up about two days quicker than promised. Thanks.
