Camry on Scales?

Update by Per Schroeder to the Toyota Camry project car
Nov 14, 2012

A good first step in building a track car is seeing just what you’ve got to work with. In the case of the Camry, we rolled it onto our Longacre scales. In completely stock form with nearly a full tank of gas, it weighed in at 3070 pounds.

We removed the spare tire, baby seat (those come standard, right?), and various other floor mats and jacks, to bring the weight down to a more reasonable 2970 pounds. That’s right—the average driver has about 100 pounds of junk in the trunk.

I am negotiating for a Camry v6 with a 5 speed this weekend. This project car was my inspiration. Will you be having any more updates?
