When the doctor said clutches were no longer a good idea (motocross knees) I set out to find an automatic that was powerful and fun to drive. I bought a 2005 C55AMG from the local dealer.. With three hundred and seventy five horsepower it was fast.. plus the somewhat secret mystery code “030” deleted the speed limiter, so it would really move. I had that car to just over one seventy twice.. and it was still pulling when I go out of the throttle. When I got seventy five thousand miles on it I traded for a C63 AMG - the successor to the ‘55. The ‘55 was quick, but the 63 is crazy quick. Few cars can get to sixty MPH as quickly as this two ton four door sedan can. It’s a hoot, despite the thirteen miles a gallon I am getting. I can’t seem to NOT paddle shift it - especially with the windows down where I can here it blip the throttle on downshifts. I love this car…
