Low compression in 3 of the 4 cylinders (165, 145, 123, 122) was a good sign that something was wrong with the current motor. I freshed up an S13 redtop motor with new bearings, gaskets, and an S14 oil pickup, decided to go with a T3/T04E 50trim turbo from the small T2 framed turboes I’d been using, and used JGS Tools for the manifold, downpipe, wastegate, and bypass valve.
The SR motor that I pulled out is getting freshened up with some Mahle pistons, Eagle rods, ARP head bolts, Cosworth bearings, and a Cosworth head gasket. I’ll wrap this motor up and save it for a rainy day.
