1986 Porsche 928s

Black with gold interior, 69K miles. Bought it in February 2010 off of ebay. Runs great but currently doing the prudent thing, changing the timing belt. Takes a long time to gather all of the pieces-parts and belt tensioner tool.

In the end the timing belt/water pump replacement was not too difficult. Runs like a V8 thoroughbred.

I have always wanted to drive one, how does she handle, and how fast is her speed?

She handles amazingly well for a 25 year old car but I have not had her faster than 100mph. They ran about 160 back in '86, what was considered the fastest production car in her day.

I did my timing belt on my 928 a couple of years ago. Was straightforward enough if you take your time. I was happy to find a .wav file of the belt being 'plucked' like a bass guitar string to set it to the right tension (and not have to buy the special Porsche tool $$$). Tuned it by ear and double checked it with a guitar tuner. Don't remember where I got the file but I still have it if anyone needs it... jtb
