1995 Jeep $2012 Cherokee XJ-R

Ride Rating

Built for the $2010 GRM Challenge.

Its a 95 Cherokee 2 door, 2wd, AW4 auto, 4.0L i6 on megasquirt (now with turbo!).

Rear suspension is a swapped in 8.8" LSD w/disks, spring under conversion with extra junk cherokee leafs for spring rate(ground smooth, greased, and wrapped in duct tape), Tacoma TRD bilsteins, and no swaybar. Front is the stock live axle with upper and lower mounts relocated as low as possible, cut, bent, and rewelded for -2.5 degrees static camber, relocated track rod mount,1-1/8" addco swaybar, and 3" lift springs cut down to desired ride height and increased spring rate.

We turbocharged it at the challenge friday night after the autocross with an ebay special $120 shipped T3/T4 50-trim turbo and ran out of fuel badly so it isnt tuned right just yet, but part throttle power is very encouraging.

I got an 93 XJ and have been thinking about boosting it. Any updates on the turbo set up ? Thank you !

WilberM3:
no real updates yet. the winter plan is to find a 5psi wastegate regulator so we can run as low as that or higher (currently 10psi), bigger injectors so we can run up to 10psi 'safely' beyond the 3800rpm they were maxed out, make an compressor side pressure tube with couplers that arent 15 year old used rubber chunks from a junk yard, and come up with some sort of air filter setup.

Why the megasquirt?

i wanted full adjustability to be able to alter timing, boost pressure (perhaps later with a boost solenoid), and fuel trim. i'd prefer that over a mechanical regulator and timing box on the stock ECU. plus we wanted to really clean up the engine bay and moving the harness and MS inside cut down on a lot of wiring.

You guys beat me to it. I've been contemplating turning my Cherokee into a GRM challenge car, but thought the judges wouldn't allow an SUV into the competition. Kodos to you guys! I always thought that Jeeps 4.0 I-6 would make a good auto-crosser!
