1958 MG MGA 1800

In 1966, my cousin Gary and I each bought an MGA, mine a ‘57, his a ‘58. Even though they were only a few years old, they had been thoroughly thrashed. They were worn out, wrecked, repaired, and rusted out. We loved them, and had a blast for a year or so. I went to college just before Gary was killed in Viet Nam. I eventually sold my car after wrecking it a couple more times. I bought Gary’s car from his folks, did some body work, and put it into storage in about 1971. Fast forward to 2006. I had long since moved to Alaska and bought a TR6, but the treasured family MG was still in storage in Oregon. I transplanted a rebuilt 1800 MGB engine into the car, put it on a trailer behind my sight-unseen-purchased Jeep Cherokee, and trailered it up the Alaska Highway. Progress on the MG hasn’t been as rapid as I planned, but it will get there.
