1973 Toyota Celica 1973

This is my 1973 Celica that I use for a track car. It’s highly modified. I participate in HPDE track events, practice drift events, auto-x and the occasional club meet.

Engine

  • LC Engineering Stage 3 cylinder head.
  • LC Stage 3 cam. (295°/295°)
  • LC Double valve springs.
  • LC Adjustable timing gear (double row).
  • LC stage 3 port and polish.
  • Fastened with ARP head studs.
  • LC Engineering Stroker block, 94mm bore, notched for a stroker crank.
  • CP forged dome pistons (12.5:1 compression.).
  • Eagle cro-moly rods.
  • LC Engineering crank scraper.
  • ARP main studs and connecting rod bolts.
  • LC Engineering Underdrive pulley set.

Engine Accessories

  • Dual Mikuni 44PHH carbs.
  • Mikuni Intake, port matched to the head.
  • Hedman shorty header.
  • 2.5” exhaust to a Cherry Bomb Vortex muffler in back.
  • Tru-cool oil cooler.
  • TAPP custom 2-row aluminum radiator.
  • Spal electric fan (pusher) with thermostat control.
  • 3 quart accusump with mechanical valve.

Driveline

  • Fidanza 11lb aluminum flywheel.
  • ACT Heavy duty clutch and pressure plate.
  • W50 5 speed manual.
  • Toyota LSD with 3.9 gears.

Fronts Suspension

  • Shortened strut casings with adjustable Koni race shocks.
  • Ground Control coil overs with caster camber plates (350lb/in springs).
  • Poly bushings.
  • Custom strut brace.
  • Battle Version “negative” roll center spacers.
  • RA28 front discs with Carbotech XP10 pads.

Rear Suspension

  • QA1 adjustable race shocks with Afco 175 lb/in springs.
  • Poly/heim control arms with full heim panhard rod.
  • AE86 rear disc brakes with Carbotech XP8 pads.
  • Willwood in cab proportioning valve.

Electronics

  • Crane HI-6 ignition. Adjustable rev limiter.
  • Crane high performance coil.
  • Newer 22R distributor with magnetic pickup.
  • Accel 8mm plug wires.
  • Trunk mounted battery (12 lbs)

Wheels
• Street: XXR 513 15X7 (X4), 195/50/R15(F), 205/50/R15(R) Potenza RE-11
• Race: Painted Gunmetal Celica Supra 14X7 (X4), 205/55/R14 Kumho V700
• Drift: Celica Supra 14X7 (X2), cheap tires

No, the track photos are from VIR, and the drift ones are from Pungo Air Field in VA Beach.

Excellent ride, it must be one hell of a track car. Keep up the excellent work and keep us informed on progress. I also have a Toyota but I drive a 81 TE72 Corolla with a stock 3tc with minor bolt-on's.
