More Bump steer

After correcting the rear caster angle I measured toe at bump and droop... the problem remains. Messing with tie rod angles next.

Rear Bump Steer

The rear suspension in the car is from an A2 golf/jetta. I swapped in the complete subframe/control arms/spindles/struts and welded a solid bar in place of the steering rack in order to lock the tie rods in place. The car ...

Rear engine dyno

Stuck my rear engine on a dyno and was pleasantly surprised, I'm making about 10hp more than the factory rating for this engine. I have an exhaust cam installed in the intake cam position, tweaked dpr and a modified airbox.

02A transmission swaps

All 5 speed A1 VW's use a linkage to shift the transmission and a cable to actuate the clutch. For my project I had to convert to hydraulic clutches and fabricate a Rube Goldberg style shift assembly to control the ...

Firewall Sheeting

After a fruitless search for cheap honeycomb sandwich aluminum I went with .040 sheeting. I bought the material fromResearch Alloys, that place is stuffed to the gills with weird metal in all shapes and sizes, everything available for scrap prices. ...

Air Box Upgrade

The rear engine was using a stock scirocco plastic intake box, this worked out very poorly since the intake pointed directly at the toasty hot mufflers. I scavanged a steel airbox from an early 80's 7 series bmw, the advantages ...

Fearful Fuel Tank Fettling

In order to install the firewall without undue fiddling I had to move the fuel tank filler neck. The fuel tank is 3/16ths mild steel of my own construction. I emptied the tank, double washed it with alkaline based detergent ...

Harness bar stand offs

I'm in the process of installing a firewall in the car, this has been high on my to-do list after I experienced the joy of a 200 degree ethylene glycol shower while traveling at 85mph. The plan is to bolt ...

There was a thread on the old board about this car. You could try and dig that up. There's some sweet videos floating around, too. Awesome car.

Holy crap.... i can't decide if this is the coolest or dumbest thing i've ever seen. I'm going to vote for coolest. Do you get a lot of strange looks as people hear you going down the road, but look around for the second car? The echo-effect in your videos caused by both motors is almost creepy.

Yes indeed, it's alive and well. I intend to haul it to an autocross and drag evening before the summer is done.
