This 250 was sold new on October 14th 1968 to a gentleman in San Francisco and had the coveted “black plate” issued at that time. The original owner kept the car for 17 years before selling it to a family friend who then kept it for another 16 years. I purchased it in 2001 still wearing the original plate issued in 1968! I spotted the car on ebay and purchased it sight unseen, then flew down to pick it up. The owner met me at the airport with the car and after a brief stop at a British Car specialist to confirm my purchase I was off 1200 miles straight north to the frozen wastelands of British Columbia Canada with my prize. I was home for dinner the next day having encountered no problems save for sore cheeks from grinning for 2 days straight. The body, paint and interior are original which makes this one of the rarest of a very rare model. Only 8484 250’s were produced and I have read that there are fewer than 1000 still running today and maybe only a handfull that have original paint and interior. It does bear some door dings and chips but it also has had 40 years (at time of writing) use. We have about a 6 month season up here and I drive the car about 3000 miles a year for recreational purposes. I intend to keep this car at least until its 50th birthday in 2018 as I still get the same feeling driving today as I did crossing the Golden Gate bridge in it in 2001.
