The Cortina gets a Rebuild

Jan 28, 2018 update on GElliott's 1970 Ford Cortina GT

It’s been a number of years since I did any major work on the racing Cortina, but started a ground up rebuild in the fall of 2015. After almost 2 years My son and I finally got her back on the track. Once completely stripped , mounted her on a rotisserie , took off 100 lb, rebuilt the transmission, the Winters quick change and the 2.3 motor- new Esslinger cylinder head and new Race Engineering crankshaft. Just did a compression test and not very happy- head has to come off and checked plus a professional valve job. Having clutch and shifting problems and turns out the clutch fork needs replacing as no longer properly centring. The fork is mounted on a rod end instead of the traditional pivot ball. Great fun.
