1995 Dodge Neon ACR

Car number 16 of the original Neon Challenge cars is still alive and well, and racing in Alaska. Just finished second for the weekend again, with three class wins, in the IT class at the 2009 Fur Rondy Grand Prix, a (nearly) annual road race on the streets of Anchorage Alaska, rumored to be the oldest current street race in the US. Several in-car and spectator videos are up on Youtube, and you can see how our track walls are made from snowbanks, and how the surface we race on varies from dry asphalt to slush to a very slippery layer of leftover deicing salt.

Cool! I won that race 3 times! 97,99,04. Look under vw's to see the car my old ride. (also the car I will probably be driving next year)

Tim: Yep. Street Maintenance workers pile snow along the roads, and carve our track walls with giant snowblowers. One straight has jersey barriers instead of snow due to railroad tracks. For some reason the RailRoad doesn't want heavy equipment moving snow and snagging their rails. healey: I heard the rumor you might come back again. Your old car still did well again this year - 1st in GTU with a race rookie driving.
