1971 Volkswagen Juneau the Campmobile

1971 VW bus Campmobile Westfalia. Her name is Juneau. Non-runner for now in need of mechanical restoration, paint and some interior work. Very minimal rust. Great bus backstory however. In 1987 a African Missions Choir from California was driving their VW bus across country. In Pesotum Il the bus lost power and died. A good Samaritan came along and offered assistance but they could not revive the bus. They flat towed it off the interstate and the good Samaritan agreed to store the bus in his garage and keep it safe until the choir could come back for it. A few years pass and the Bus is still in his garage. In 1991 the Minister calls and offers the signed tittle and wishes luck to the gentleman whom helped him long ago. The van sits more until spring of 2013 when the previous owner decides he will not actually get to fixing the bus. Off to C-List it goes and 26 years after a breakdown I bring our bus home. The plan is to put a 1776cc engine in, new tires and get it working. Fix any rust (There is only minimal), go through the suspension/brakes and get it back on the road. It needs a windshield and curtains and then we will camp a few times and see how we like it. Long term it will get paint, a minor droop and some VW heritage alloys.

Bye bye Juneau. Sorry we never got you running. You're in good hands. Buyer is into microcars. This one hurts.
