1986 Merkur XR4Ti
Added on April 8 by cliffxr

The car is an 86 XR4Ti. I’ve had it since 1990. It’s been modified ever since. Current iteration has a 331 (bored/stroked 302) with AFR heads, X-303 cam, Holley Systemax intake, etc. Trans is a T-5 with .82 5th gear…excellent for the track. Rear end is a David Godfrey 8.8 IRS with 3.31 gears. Brakes are 6 pot Wilwoods up front and 4 pots out back. Although it’s street legal, I use it primarily for HPDE events.

Thanks! I switched to a dual in/out Magnaflow last year and really like the sound. Plus, it packages in real nice.

Nice ride—voted up! How tight a fit is the 331?

Thanks! 331 fits pretty tight front to back, but side to side is a breeze. I run equal length BBK shorty headers (89-93 Mustang) and it takes less than 20 minutes to remove them. I also just switched to a TKO600RR.
