Bye, guys Nov 21, 2008

As a fan of all car magazines, this one is a little sad: Sport Compact Car is no more. Yep, it’s gone the way of Turbo, which was recently also cancelled. So, what does this mean for us? While we technically now have a little less competition, it also means that we have to work just as hard to (hopefully) entertain and inform a new crop of readers.

Damn. SCC is what got me into the scene years ago... and they were just getting readable again after coming out from Primedia...

You had me worried for a moment, I thought that youwere saying goodbye to US, the readers. As in, you were leaving GRM. That would have sucked.

Eh... that magazine has kind of been heading down hill for a long time.. i won't miss it. you guys should use this opportunity to pick up Dave Coleman though. his engineering articles were always top notch, mixing just the right amount of humor with good solid facts, and explanations that even novices could understand.

Losing Dave Coleman was the beginning of the end for SCC. Really too bad, I've been reading that mag since I was in Highschool. Seeing them go under should make us all more grateful for the awesome GRM staff.

Shame to see Turbo go the way of the Dodo. Used to read it back in the late 80's/early90's before the other major mags would admit there was a blossoming import scene. Had a sub to SCC back in the day and enjoyed it too. Amazing the ramifications our failing economy is having, isn't it?

SCC WAS cool, but I hate to say that they turned into not much more than advertising for online rim dealers. Editorially... 10 years ago it was worth picking up, but I never actually subscribed. GRM on the other hand... ;)

Yeah, that really sucks. As others have said it was the mag to read 10-12 years ago. Turbo was great too, with techy articles on EFI and turbochargers before the big guys took notice. For us on the West Coast, SCC was reflective of what was going on back then, and single-handedly made the idea mainstream that "Honda" could equal "performance". What a shame.
