Summer is over. Nov 30, 2010

From the Desk of: Tom Heath

Back in August, I convinced my wife that she should join me on a 4700 mile road trip from Daytona Beach to the Western Slope of Colorado and back. We’d be taking the turbocharged Miata project car, so accommodations were tight and creature comforts minimal, but after 14 years of marriage we were looking forward to the adventure.

We strapped an iPhone to the dashboard to create the time lapse photos, but lost several of the driving stints. In the end, that’s probably a good thing since the video is still 7 minutes long.

I’m a big jerk for not getting this up sooner. I lost some footage along the way and hoped to recover it, but by this point I just needed to get this project done. The combination of still photography, video, and time-lapsed images was fun but hard to manage logistically. I guess when it’s all said and done, I’m happy enough with the way it turned out, but next time I’ll invest in more memory cards and a portable hard drive to keep more images safe.

The wife and I did our 1-year anniversary in New Orleans. It was awesome, heck of a cool town. I pine for the little shop that sold crazy homemade popsicles.
