key fob fix
Suggested by nicksta43This is a common problem on late model G.M. cars and trucks but might be applicable to others as well.
If a button quits working on the fob take it apart like you’re changing the battery, pull the circuit board out and look at the inside of the rubber piece which would be the backside of the button. There should be a little black circle in the center of the button and if it’s not working the little black circle is probably missing.
I tried a tip that worked decent, find a rear window defroster repair kit at your favorite auto parts store. This comes with a small bottle of copper metallic based paint and apply a small drop where the circle would be. Let it dry then reassemble. This works fine for about two weeks then the paint wears of and you have to redo it. So after tiring of that I cleaned off the inside really well with alcohol and cut out a piece of foil tape to fit in the recess and this has proven to be a much more permanent fix. ( you can find foil tape at your favorite hardware store near the duct tape) ( this also works well for T.V. remotes as well)
