There's a long story, particularly chassis re-development before things 'fell into place' as Geoff said. I became so enamored w/ these cars (as well as the Group 44 Jags & Group C Mercedes) during that time. It was a great racing era.
The rear quarter panel section of the 83 or 84 is hanging on my sons wall. Both cars flipped end over end right in front of me at Road Atlanta. I think it was 1991. The cars were outrageous.
Was that due to the tire burst? From what I heard, what nearly did in the driver was the test equipment breaking loose and pummeling him after he hit the fence.
I have a wing end plate :), thankfully not from that wreck.
