Ok so months ago i bought the below pictured challenge wheels and drag radials for 100 bucks. 2 hour round trip to get the. A little big. But i was ok with it as i could raise the rear coils and clear.

Well 1 rear coil is seized and i cannot adjust the ride height due to the body not being able to thread down. So 28s are out of the question.

Im in need of 26s. If anyone has some to sell for 100 on a 5x114 wheel and can bring them let me know. Or i can borrow some that are fmv at 100. That works too.

Would also take a pair of 26s that have a few passes left in them and mount them on my car if someone wants the 28s and we can swap. Im up for almost anything. Dont want to sell these wheels as i like them. But need 26s bad.

So as i posted this Ed might have some 26" radials for me. But he still has to check.

Don't know if it'd help any but I have some coil adjusters here.  Like cheap.  Like free to anyone that wants 1-4.

As in the spanner wrenches themselves?

Oh nevermind. I know what you're talking about. I might be able to use 2 of them kn the rear. Not sure if it will work but i can try.

IIRC Stock miata springs on stock RX7 shocks work for lift springs in the rear of that gen RX7.

What about picking up stock suspension and swapping over for the drags?

I thought about it but i dont have access to any. From what i have seen its not cheap and i have no budget roomeft for it or recoup to sell the rears.

Id essentially have to find it for free. The coils still work great and will be awesome for the autox. Just limit me on tire size for the drags.

I looked real quick this morning and found 3 sleeves as I should have described them last night.  Assuming that's what you need.  I threw them in the truck along with Indy Guy's mufflers.

Keep hosing the adjusters and get a bigger pipe wrench

Maybe the low heat and candle wax trick?

You just need to space the spring higher right? If you jack up the rear, could you shove a spacer between the coil and the seized adjuster? Something like two C-shaped pieces of metal or wood with a hose clamp holding them to the coilover body would do it.

I used a 2 foot pipe wrench last night paired with a propane torch and a 2 foot breaker bar on top of that in the vice. it didnt budge.

Before i broke a weld or destroyed the coil itself i stopped as i dont have a replacement.

The way the ride height is adjusted on this coil is by threading the lower body of the coil (the side that mounts to the control arm) away to the left, like you are unscrewing it. and everything else stays put. In order to do the you need to the threads (an area you will never use) and clamp the lower body and break it loose.

It literally laughed at everything we did. Unfortunately there are just some battles you cant win, and this is one of them. I know a 26" tire will clear as my A7's are 25" in diamter and i can easily clear another half inch.

The orange part that is circled unscrews and lower on the main shaft which is threaded completely. the top spanner nut on top of the orange lower body is just a locking screw which i got loose, but thats about it.

I have various size slicks in ohio if you can get them down there.

Are you sure there are no setscrews in there?  I know a lot of these lower nuts have them to lock it in place....

How about a spacer between tower and top hat?

I could. But you quickly run out of threads to mount the assembly in the strut tower.

We used a nut/bolt in our challenge 7 when one of those pressed studs unpressed itself. It is a pain to have to have someone on both ends to tighten it down but not that big of a deal. We swapped springs during the challenge to get the lift for our slicks.

Wait, you have the top ring loose, right?  Just adjust it.  Tape it in place or use a hose clamp if you must.  This pic has a hose clamp under the adjuster to act as belt and suspenders.

We just tape ours in place on the champcar.  They don't come loose.

In reply to wvumtnbkr :

Im not sure this will work. The ring on top of the lower body just acts as a locking ring, to prevent the entire threaded body from threading in or out of the lower puter sleeve the is bolted to the car. But thats irrelevant now as that outer sleeve is seized onto the threaded post. I dont want to mess with the springs as thats already set preload for the car.
