Many folks want to enter the challenge but the logistics (and financial constraints) of building and hauling a car to sunny central Florida stand in the way.
Solution: a RENTAL CAR CLASS! Everyone knows a rental car brakes deeper, turns harder, Etc than any car you can own. Rules are you must spend less than $250 for rental fee, Concours vinyl graphics, Etc. That's it. No "free" set of tires. No recoup. Your build book is just your rental receipt. Extra points if it ends up parked in the Hotel pool.
Sort of like being a professional race car driver that arrives and drives.
What would you run in the rental car class?

You could potentially get an actual sports car off Turo, but it would be tough to make two days for under $250.
I'm getting a Lyft or Uber and seeing what my driver (and their vehicles) can do. It's okay if I have a different driver and car for the autocross and drag portions as long as I'm under $250 right?
I'll rent you my challenge car for $250.
I'll build a Challenge car for $250 and beat your $250 rental car.
I legitimately have less than $250 in the EGT, but was planning on going $1000. I can't safely supercharge it for under $250.

You've already proven that point against my 2016 $900 C4!
Sorry, everyone, but rental cars go against what we’re trying to do with the Challenge. Bench racing is fair game, though! Wasn’t it budget that rented Fiesta STs for a while?

This is far and away the best way to attend the challenge and place in the top ten. What a deal!
All you west coast challengers should fire up Expedia and hit the atm in the airport.
I currently have $52 in my challenge car. I might MS it to be honest!
