See if you can work something out with the seller, I have friends and relatives in Detroit.  One of them has a car trailer.

Not that I'm an enabler.

But did you see the Fuego in the U.P.?

This guy is selling his collection?

In reply to akylekoz :

If it was up for sale in a couple months, I totally would but I need to sell one car first and buy suspension parts for the FSP Civic.

oOOOH.  I'm having bad thoughts involving a LeCar and and old rusted out turbo Saab to make a budget version of this:

why do you need the Saab?

you just move the stock engine/trans behind the seat

Not quite. The first gen Le Car (R5) is actually front wheel drive and mid engined longitudinally mounted. Like, the transmission is behind the front bumper and the engine is under the dash almost. Moving it to the rear would make it more of a rear engined car like a R8/R10 or a Beetle/911. The R5 Turbo has the engine in the middle of the car.

R5 Turbo:

Le Car (Normal R5):

Notice even the accessories are running off of the transaxle side of the engine.

The second gen of R5 and Le Car actually switched over to a transverse mounted engine/transaxle setup that's more typical of FWD cars. The above Le Car is the first gen so it mid engined!

I still haven't quite figured out if people do flip the ring gear to turn the Renault transaxle around or not like the VWs/Porsches.

WOW, now it is even more awesomerer.  Who would have thunk, a mid engine LeCar.

That R-5 is surprisingly rust free.  I put 80,000 miles on one, the last car I remember having a manual choke.

My 1985 RX7 had a semi-auto manual choke.  Who knows how those worked, it would all of the sudden just click back in when it was ready.

The car in the OP seems too cheap to me.   And I doubt it was ever ralleyed much  Looks way too clean.

In reply to akylekoz :

Electric gizmo on the choke cable that would release a “brake” of sorts in a set amount if time, if memory serves.  Spring return of the choke go the off position pulled the cable back in.

The wife and I test drove an early civic wagon that the choke worked like that.

With the mismatched seats, wires hanging under the dash and possibly not running well, definitely go and see if you can get it for several hundred dollars.  I need two cars gone before bringing another one home.
