I've got a 1980 Suzuki GS-450 with a bad starter switch on the right bar; actually it's not there. I wired up a momentary switch under/near the headlight but that's a PITA and not real safe. If you stall in traffic, you have to find neutral, hit the button, find a gear and get going again. I like the convenience on the right grip, no one knows you stalled.
This is kinda sorta what mine looks like. If you have a dead something hanging around and want to part out the guts, lemme know. I don't need the whole right side grip & electricals, just a plastic button, a spring and the copper contact point.
As this thing is almost 30 years old and Dealers won't talk to me, if you have ideas for replacement items I'd be glad to hear them.

Hmmmm. Do you think 3 amp would handle it? I have no idea what current goes through the button.

Let me know how it works.
I just saw a new magazine in BM called "Motorcyclist Retro" and they had several ads for companies that had electrical pieces (including starter buttons for 70's and 80's bikes - Cool mag. I had an 83 GS450S that I loved and with gas hitting $4.00 a gallon, it might be time again.

You should be able to find the part from a motorcycle salvage yard. If it's just the button or the contacts in the switch that are broke or missing, they should still be available from Suzuki. If your local dealer doesn't want to help (all that stuff should be in their parts computer) Try one of the online dealers. Here's just the first one I found with a google search.

The individual parts are only a few bucks each.
