Those things sucked in 1972 and they suck 40 years harder now. I can think of many many many cars I would rather spend $2500 on.

The Ohio-Pinto is $1800 cheaper, but not as nice.

The paisley roof is freakin awesome! But, I don't think it's original to the car. The only oem paisley vinyl I know of was the Mopar "Mod Top", but it would have been around the same model year. I think Mopar had the option from maybe 1969 to 71 or so.

I would soooo hit that with some mini lites and drive the piss out of it.

A pinto is on my short list (of cars it will take me a long time before I get around to owning).

I want one...but it's hard to find a whole one anymore. Damn rust.

In reply to Aeromoto:

I'm pretty sure Ford had Paisley roofs also, but can't verify that it came on the Pinto. I know you could get one on the Mustang, but it was dealer installed. Maybe this was the same deal?

My g/f in high school had a 1974-ish base trim (dog dishes and all) Pinto wagon with a 4-speed, in that awful hospital green. This was in 1981; it was garage-kept and nearly pristine. It was horrible to drive and ugly as crap. I berking love wagons, and I couldn't get interested in that car then, or now. It was awful.

people thought Chevy II's and Falcons were junk back in the day. I see a small bumper Maverick with Torque-thrusts that makes me drooool regularly. In short, that Pinto is, in my opinion, ...HAWT!

I wish him the best of luck in the price. Someone did a great job keeping it up. Not sure I want one, but hey....

For the under 40 crowd, this is what Aermoto is talking about. The vinyl on the Pinto is stock. I believe it's a package called Geighly Underpowered when you get A/C, paisley and the full hubcaps.

IIRC that was called the Pinto Walkabout in Australia.

The paisley is far better than the awful lace paint jobs that they did in the 60's.

Just shows how color choice can make or break a car. In white, red, or black it would be way better looking.

That's a smokin deal. I've seen clean pintos like that in CA for double the price. I've always wanted to do a pre-75 pinto with a 2.3 turbo.

The root beer brown paint and paisley roof are part of the joke, and exaqctly why it would be fun to drive. When it comes to old economy cars, the uglier / funkier they get, the cooler they are, IMO. The same goes for those Mopars with the mod tops that someone posted above, if they both had same old same old black vinyl tops, I would say "Yawn, another cookie cutter muscle car", and walk right past them at a car show.
