Like the title says, I'm looking for a 5.0 Mustang drivetrain donor for my '65 Triumph TR4. Going to need a T5 manual transmission too. Would prefer to buy both as a package, but not necessary. As cheap as possible, because I want to get this car to the Challenge, so very budget conscious.
What do you have, or know about. Central Indiana is where I'm located. Post here or send me a PM.
Thanks.

If you have trouble finding a T5, the block plate, bell housing, and flywheel from a '94-'04 v6 Mustang will bolt right onto a 302, provided you also use the starter from the v6. It uses a 164 tooth, 50 oz/in imbalance flywheel whereas the 302 uses a 157 tooth, 50 oz/in.
Also the bell housing is a bit longer on the v6 to accommodate the longer input shaft of the sn95 trans.

Thanks for the info. Good to know.
Don't know how the you pull it's are up there but an Explorer 5.0 and a Mustang V6 T5 will run you ~$350 down here as long as you pull them on different days of the week.

Not sure what you can recoup from this, but it's probably pretty close to you.

Thanks. I saw that one, got pretty excited and asked the seller for pics. These are what were sent to me:
I did a bit of research and apparently the '84 5.0 is a low compression engine, and the T5 used that year is not very strong.
Seller's asking $1000, but at $500 to $600 I'd be game. Here's my strategy on this one: wait until it's been listed for sale for nearly a month and then offer him $500. I just don't see very much for budget re-coupe left on the car to sell off.

The trunk lids and doors used to be worth a bit back when I was still in the JY picking game. Not sure now.
In reply to jj :
I want to use it as is for budget reasons
In reply to Cooter :
Got any estimates of value?

No idea what they are worth now. I was JY picking back in the height of the Cash For Clunkers years.
In reply to Indy-Barely Functional-Guy :
I have a Ford V8 T-5 trans with a broken input shaft housing (shaft itself seems good). If you pick it up I'd be willing to sell for under $100.
Would this one be a good donor? Is this a "roller" motor?
opinions
Yes, it's a roller motor. Late 85 and up 302's are rollers. The LSC is niche market, you may recoup some $$, but it may take some time. The car seems straight, may get lucky. The air bags and compressor, if working, bring $.

That rear end might also be withw something. It's not the gearing a lot of people want but it would be great behind a Cadillac 425 hint hint.

I may need that tranny.....
