1994 ZX7, eh? I had one of those when I lived overseas! It was a huge laugh but also a huge handful. It always ran hot, second gear was iffy at best, and I kinda-sorta melted some enginey bits on the long ride home when I bought it. But man, was it fun. I've owned many dozens of bikes since then but honestly, I don't think I've owned anything that was a viscerally fun as that bike. I loved that stupid green beast.

Brandonsmash: ZX7, affirm. A wild green machine. It looked great and had the right amount of heft to it - was too much for me. 12,500 redline was intoxicating, but scary speed. I shipped it to Japan for ~2 years...the look of the young Japanese movers as it came out of the box was memorable. Unfortunately, 80 KMH max speed on the island of Okinawa really limited the thrills...although probably kept me alive.
Parts delivery has been received...should be sufficient to get bike thru German inspection (after the carbs arrive) and my Shoei helmet is finally on the way. Basic Shoei used to be $150...now try $650! My head isn't worth that much!
I love the small bore 4. I've been looking for one to play with and commute a little bit on instead my CBX. Kawasaki zx4rr is the modern equivalent in the US that I really want but $10k is tough when so many fun vintage bikes could be had instead.

I'm a bit slower on two wheels so a 250 is just right. The technology is amazing...but after purchase, fees, shipping, dock fees, etc...and now possibly tariffs, the vintage bikes become a bit more pricey. I'm still glad I did it and recommend looking at Australia for examples...little corrosion and cheaper prices.
Nonetheless, life is getting in the way and the carbs are still 'in-work'! We believe we did repair the oil leak...new case plug and 'o'-ring...installed by my helper:

Happy Easter - bunny brought a Mikuni Box for the holiday:

Freshly cleaned and balanced from a highly reputable guru in Germany...Clean! (these factory carbs are Keihins!):

Install was a bit finicky because I don't hardly know what I'm doing with cabling...but added fresh gaskets and 'connections' for good measure:

And few moments of starter, once the fuel hit, instant idle! Had to take it for a spin and ran like a top! The idle and partial throttle are worlds better:

Had to rent a van to haul the bike to inspection...I requested a minivan for a low loading height. They gave me big by large! Even had a loading lift...so worked out:

Passed with no issue...no leaks, no cracked tires, OEM exhaust, and all lights/horn works. Phew!

Plate installed and short ride to make me forget the 5 trips to the vehicle registation to finish the paperwork! 12000-18000 it really purrs!

brandonsmash: Thanks for the post. I would love to update to a 'full song' muffler...but my German neighbors already know I have the loudest vehicles in town. That would likely push them over the top! I may do it anyway...small inline four at revs is musical to my ears. A muffler along only costs $150. A rejet would be required and would only pick up 1.5 hp (j/k).
