It's a decidely un-helpful canoe. The 1984 Pontiac Sunbird is based on the FWD J-Body and shares no parts with the 1980 model.

Started fabrication on the torque arm pinion support bracket

Finished welding the major brackets, fabbing the top and bottom brackets. Denny welded the tubes and tabs onto the center, and the housing ends. Cleaned and painted the rear.

These are the headers that came with the car. Sold for $125.

IF this becomes a challenge car, it is closing in on being sold down and the steering wheel is still on the car. I did advertise it on the H-body forum. The guy who bought the headers want to buy the rear and other parts.

planning to use a large volume shallow pan.

In order to do so, the cross member was clearance, factory weld ground and re-welded, and gusseted with heavier gage plate.

Also, sold the rear ($100) and the spare tire tub ($14). Scrap tin pieces were weighed and junked at ($4).

This popped up locally.. asking a grand, pretty sure you could get it for a LOT less

IMSA / widebody kit for a sunbird / monza .. never used

Cut the door bars (that came with the car)out and installing parts for a cage from a flea market purchase. I hate cleaning up old messes, but it is coming out pretty decent.

Fabbed 26 pieces and installed 18. Wow, what a day! Cage almost done...cage gusset done...seat mounts 50%...seat belt mounts 50%...first list for the "to do" before the doors go back on.
