Got the amp in under the front passenger's seat perfectly. Completely hidden and out of harm's way.

Got the battery fan cleaned and everything put back together.

Testing of the sub: good enough! Well worth the current $73 i have in it. Need to get the box built soon though. The plywood test box takes too much space.

It probably works way more efficiently now.

Thanks John!!

John and i are both currently on stone stock cars. Stock 185/65/15 tires, ride height, etc.

Only difference is the wheel spacers.

Johns car stock offset, mine spaced. Mine has mudflaps which gives a little difference in appearance between the pictures

Johns: tires inset at the top of the wheel arch, and flush at the body line 17 inches off the ground.

Mine, with the 20mm spacer is almost flush. Just enough to make a good visual difference, but not enough that its obvious what i did.

Outside pictures later today. Got the second coat of ceramicoat on before work. Second coat always goes way quicker than the first.

before and after.

It really doesn't look all that different in pictures. But, its REALLY white now, has shine, and filled wheelwells.

Continue to enjoy this very much!

berkeley.

What are the chances that the hv fan died because i cleaned it?

Or is it pretty much coincidental failure of battery pack?

berkeley. berkeley. berkeley.

Is it possible that something did not get plugged in tightly when you had things apart for fan cleaning?

That is possible. Is that probable for these codes? I can tear it all back apart and double check my work though. However I wasn't anywhere near the high-voltage pack that I know of

So, update time.

The high voltage battery took a crap. No warning, just failure despite the dr Prius app saying it had a good long life expectancy.

It happens i guess.

I looked at all my options: greentec, green bean, new Toyota, used pack, diy rebuild.

I ultimately made the decision to get grean bean. Its a remanufactured battery pack with a lifetime warranty. It was a little more than used, low level greentec, or diy rebuild. But the warranty is what sold me. They came out to my house for $150, install took 45 minutes and done. $16xx all in. Not insignificant.

Car has more power and picked up 8mpg over previous best average. Im not complaining!

You know, at +8mpg, the payback on a $1600 repair is probably months vs years.

Since i switched jobs, this car barely moves. I now work three miles from home, and have a company truck at the shop.

That being said, this is still a fantastic appliance for me. I could honestly daily anything now, but 47mpg is 47mpg.

This happened this week:

This thread started 2-7-2022 at 102k and now, 10-7-2022 or exactly 8 months later the car has 123k for 21k addition.  Its 2,625 miles per month or annualized, that's like adding 31.5k per year.  That a lot of driving and I can see not missing it.

With the car fully refurb'ed now this can/should be a low repair vehicle for a long time to come.  It's either worth a whole lot on the new crazy used market or keep it for running errand.  How long until your youngest is driving?

You made me go back to the logbook for exact information.

Purchase: 2/11/22 at 102,456

Last day of mental health: 8/31/22 at 122245

201 days at 19,789 is 98.5 miles a day average.

2955 miles a  month in this car alone. Never leaving the middle part of the state for the most part.

Thats frickin NUTS.

Munchkin gets her permit in August of next year. She still has the old parking lot build silverado as hers, but i can see her taking this to college. Just makes sense.

Its a fantastic E36 M3box.

Honestly I have never plugged my scanner in to find out. Still getting 48 miles to the gallon and haven't really worried about it. Having said that I think I'll plug it in when I get home

That is the rear passengers side trim panel in the hatch. With the remains of a fiberglass sub box. We had two solidly lain layers of resin and chopped mat before dinner last night. Set it out to cure, and it fell before curing.

I think either too much resin, not enough hardener for temp, or i oriented it wrong when i set it down.

I was guessing a fiberglass sub box gone way wrong.
