Seems like every trip to the tag office reveals a new and exciting document that you've never heard of, but is somehow required

GM 3800.  It should run poorly longer than most cars run at all.

These are the reigning poster child of the no preventive maintenance, paycheck to paycheck crowd. The same crowd who doesn't fix it when they hear the problem and doesn't fix it when they feel the problem rather doesn't fix until the car just doesn't go and then doesn't fix the whole problem; just enough to make it go.

One goof on these...

See how it appears to have a 140 mph speedo?  But unlike most US cars it doesn't have a second inner dial for Killometers.  Instead, if you switch if from mph to kph it then uses the same dial which can go up to 140km or about 87 mph

In the picture, if you already have it set km then the 80 shown is only about 50 mph

The Grand Prix went to an extended family member for the same amount of cash I spent on Family breakfast this morning.

Here's how I explained it to the key swap group:

This looks interesting. A road course type dirt track? https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100082723712238  "Rescue Raceway Park" in SW Missouri.

Billy put together a good video covering the Gambler 500 Key Swap. He's the one that got the CR-V and the Grand Prix was his car.

We are waiting for aircraft parts at work today, so I have no work to do and some heated hangar space available. A good time to try out foam fender flares on what Mrs AAZCD and I now call, 'Not a Tesla'.

There was some sturdy black packing foam in a box that a battery was shipped in. Cut it with a kitchen knife and glue it on with construction adhesive.

It will be easy to cut away more to correct the shape and fit after the adhesive is set.

I'm planning to use the scrap bumper cover from the red Prius to fit around the headlights and tie into the fender. I'm still sorting through ideas to finish the front. Looking at possibilities for the light bar, I like the line right under the hood. Putting it on the roof would add drag and I'm trying to keep the airflow as clean as I can. A fabricated bracket mounted to the core support should work well. Not sure it I want a longer light to fill the space. This should illuminate plenty.

CV axle was replaced a week or two ago and was simple other than popping it out of the transmission. I still plan to swap the catalytic converter from the green-gray car and replace the failing capaciter for the screen.

Replacing the rear hatch with the one from the green-gray car was easy until I found out that the wire harness was different and would not plug in. I ended up swapping the original harness back on along with cutting a hole in the hatch to mount the backup camera.

Fender flares... This is a Gambler car. No need for molds and resiny stuff. I shaved the foam to shape after the Liquid Nails was set, then spread some kind of black roofing stuff on it to finish it off.

Thanks. The more straight lines it gets, the better the look.  Cybertrucks don't have Any curves. I think I'll square off the space below the windshield with some gloss black the next day I have 'painting weather'.

...and I did a brief video feature of the Xbox today after washing some mud off.

While you've got the black paint out, I suggest you go ahead and connect to black flare lines to the bottom black section ( circled below)

Yes, lots of work to do still. The foam went as far as practical with the contours of the Prius. Scrap sheet metal will probably tie the rest in.

The 'Texas Carnado' is in early February and that's basically Tomorrow as far as car project time goes. This probably won't be finished cosmetically. I need to focus on the front bumper; light bar and small winch along with some adaptations for the camper interior.

...put engines in two Boxsters, finish getting the red Prius on the street, and keep up maintenance on the fleet.

It's not quite raining and the temperature is in the 60s. Why not strip parts from the green-gray Prius today?   ...because I took the exhaust off first and it was so delightfully easy that I decided to go ahead and swap it onto the Not a Tesla. There's been a hole in the exhaust, a bit of a smell, and an OBD code. Good to deal with before I use it as a camper with the engine cycling off and on for HVAC.

Not much, but here's a random update dump:

My son in law's Prius died and wouldn't start. Had RTD and P0A0F & P3190. Rather than scrapping the green-gray Prius, I hauled it out there and gave it to him for parts. Turned out to be a bad 12V battery that failed his car. The green-gray car had a good one along with connectors for an easy swap to standard terminals. As he looked it over he listed off a half dozen other parts he's going to use.

No major progress on 'Not a Tesla', but I'm really not inspired to take the Cybertruck theme much further. I'll tie the fender flares in the rest of the way, but think I'm going to put the lightbar and a rack on the roof and mount the 3,500 lb winch on the center of the front bumper.

Saw this come up in the Gambler 500 FB Group and thought it was a perfect statement about Gambler:

May be an image of 2 people, child and text that says 'ARRIVING AT CAMP EARLY- AFTER HITTING ALL THE WAYPOINTS IN ORDER. ARRIVING AT CAMP WITH A OVEN RATCHET AT 11PM, STRAPPED TO THE ROOF, A GLOVEBOX FULL OF MUDDY WATER, A MISMATCHED SPARE TIRE OFF AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT CAR, TOWING ANOTHER CAR FULL OF NEW BEST FRIENDS, ..AFTER HITTING 3 WAYPOINTS AND THE LOSING THE SHEET. 1'

It looks like the Xbox Off-Roadster is going to the Dallas Convention Center at the end of the month as a car to represent Gambler 500 with Tate. One of the Lone Star Gambler organizers asked me if I'd be willing to loan it for the event. Hell yeah...

I finished tearing down the bad 3.2L engine from the silver 2000 Boxster. The bearing on rod #5 was the culprit, the rest of the engine was in pretty good shape.

I'm going to send the case halves to a guy on the 986Forum who wants them for a rebuild. Probably keping the heads set aside for 'just in case' and scrapping everything else.

I recently picked up a 80,000 BTU heater that I can run on waste Jet Fuel from work. It is awesome in the drafty garage. *I'm keeping a CO detector nearby when in use.

I heard that the transmission died on the Grand Pricks that I 'won' at the Gambler 500 car swap. They drove it another half hour after it started having serious trouble. I suspect that initially it was just a little low on fluid and now it has more serious problems. ...Still a good car for the $100 I sold it for.
