So the gaskets are all present. The rear seal isn't leaking. The speedo connection is lot leaking. It seems that the reverse shifter arm is leaking. I didn't know that was a thing. It does penetrate the case, so I guess there's an o ring there. Time to check that out.

In others news the wiring is a mess.

I'm trying to decide what to do in the engine compartment. I'm strongly considering buy once cry once and buying from the guys you mentioned. It's all there but it's ugly and miserable.

Do you have any good color wiring diagram? I'm a bit stuck mostly on where this all goes again.

Heater motor and blower resistor, perhaps?

Maybe.

I will go back out there in a few nights, hopefully with Tunakid #2 again, he enjoyed the time we had out there.

I spent way too much money buying things. Stay tuned.

Time is tighter than ever, money is pretty difficult as well. I got some time out there with Tunakids #2 and #4 though. Happily, we got the exhaust manifolds off and treated. We removed the old water pump and broken shroud. Unhappily the new water pump broke when I put in the hose nipple, and also unhappily I don't have enough bolts to actually put the manifolds back.

Also no pictures. I am not good at being my own photographer.

Im just happy to read about progress!

I hope people are still reading.

Long ago we had a discussion about replacing bolts, and I have long since replaced them. Back then I had three or four guys offering to have me send the bolts and they would clean them with some special sauce and vibratory magic. At that time I really didn't have the bolts and it was not useful.

Now I am going to reassemble things and I have a pile of rusty nasty bolts, and would like that same service if it is still offered. Let me know if anyone is still willing, and what the terms might be.

Thanks!

I'm perfecting my shift shaft seal pushing tool

Anyone still reading and want to help with vibratory cleaning on my pile of bolts?

If you can't find a vibratory cleaner, I've spent significant time wire-wheeling ALL the cab/body bolts on my '61.  They are clean enough now.

It's at work but it's free for me to use. Nice perk, eh?

Not only following but rooting for each update.

Myself, I am still at the wire wheel stage of hardware cleaning. Evaporust does a great job if you are just dealing with surface rust after a previous clean.

Pete

I'm following.Despite being non-vibratory, for those nuts and bolts, I recommend a jug of evap-o-rust. Environmentally friendly, effective, ok to get on your hootus.

I bought a Harbor Freight vibratory tumbler. It caught fire on the third batch of Bolt. Would not recommend.
