Consider grey rather than black to ease spotting any future cracks in the chassis.

Borrowing a blaster setup from a friend with a powder coating side gig and going to town on the chassis Monday.

Saving a ton of $$$, but I'll owe him. He'll probably want me to weld things overhead...

Please paint the chassis a light color. Much easier to maintain.

Sand blasting is berkeleying miserable.

We have two 30 gallon Hazard Fraught compressors running in parallel. It still wasn't enough air to do a good job. I knocked a lot of the black paint off, cleaned up the areas I'm going to do welding, and tried to knock out the tight spaces that would be tough to get at with another device. That was ample before I was over it.

Also - I had to poop and the shop bathroom is down right now so I had to leave, which meant putting everything away.

In other news, I got a hanging scale and weighed the chassis. Lets play a game. Price is right rules: HOW MUCH DOES THE CHASSIS WEIGH?!

No hints given.

Answer revealed Wednesday.

Which one is closer? laugh

I was supposed to edit the first post. Lets go with the 316.5. There is a fair amount of steel in that frame.

After picking up to put in back on the dollie over and over while moving it in and out of the shop - yes, there's a fair amount of steel in it.

One dollar.

Some mighty fine guesses in here!

Those wondering about the scale, it was dead on with my home scale using my body as a unit of calibration.

I have spent a good amount of time at the shop, so I had to earn more points with SWMBO to maintain the peace.

A bathroom remodel should do the trick.

We bought this house about 10 months ago and two bathrooms featured carpet. I already renovated one, so this was the last vestige of grossness in the house.

I think I've bought myself a couple months with this job.

In other news, I've found a local blasting place that will do my chassis for half what I got quoted before. So I'm going to let them do it. I really want a clean slate to check welds and add some welds of my own. Plus a nice surface for a full respray, whose color I still haven't chosen.

Looking good on both projects. As a side note the shocks are on my car and corner weighted, just waiting for the first race. Thanks!

Got a call from the machinist. My input shaft has cancer and is no good. Shift forks have flat spots and dogs on 4th gear are rounded.

I'm going to end up with a gearset prepped for 500hp. Buy once cry once?
