I love the back story on this car. Im actually on the board of directors for the SR20 National Convention and have hosted it 3 of the last 5 years here in Florida. Last year I helped host it in Alabama. Seriously has an awesome history. Please let me know if there is anything you need for the car. There is an amazing support system of FWD sr20 owners in GA/FL. I'm into Overlanding too. Let me know if you ever want to get that GX out in the woods.

I'll definitely take you up on that! Is there like a group or anything on facebook for FWD sr20 people around here? I'd love to be more involved in that circle.

My future plans involve either a turbo or VE motor so I'm sure I'll come poking people for parts eventually but for now I just want to use it to become a good driver.

Also definitely need to get offroading some more in the GX so very down

Here is the SR20 "the Dash" FB group which is basically the new forum. Unfortunately, there are a lot of for-sale posts in there but its a good group to be in.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/42752126543

Here is My Friend Roger Raymond's FB group. He parts out FWD SR cars and has ALLL the things. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1232333430187936

Here is the SR20 National Convention Discussion Page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/248324422537959

And here is my Overlanding Page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/789670381853882?hoisted_section_header_type=recently_seen&multi_permalinks=1316512515836330

I hope all of that helps.

Replaced the injector that went bad during comp. Reliving some past trauma here of my old 300ZX. For those not familiar with the JECS side feed injectors, there are 2 main types during the production run of the Z32 300ZX. The earlier 'phase 1' injectors have a square electrical connector and are known to be susceptible to failure due to ethanol exposure. The later 'phase 2' injectors have an oval connector and are much more reliable and are a common upgrade to the earlier Z32s, only requiring some adapters for the lower o-ring. However, as I came to find out when I was doing the upgrade to my Z32 way back, theres actually a super secret 'phase 1.5' injector that looks like the phase 2 injectors with the oval connector except they have the same phase 1 internals that are just suceptible to ethanol damage. Found that out after having 2 more injectors go bad about a month after the upgrade. Luckily that meant I saved the 2 nice OEM actual phase 2 injectors I put in my Z32 way back! This picture showcases the differences between the two, phase 2 on the left. Apparently the flaw with the older style injectors is the screen being directly around the coil rather than below it.

Also if you're familiar with these side feeds, you know how much of a pain it is to remove them. If you just try to use pliers to wrestle them out, you'll just end up having them look like this:

I came up with a little press tool to be able to take them out easily as such. Definitely throwing this one in the tool box as I expect a trackside injector failure in my future.

Also decided to do some general maintenance put some new plugs and a fuel filter in. Glad I did, that old filter was nastyyyyyyy

On an unrelated note, since I have owned the car I've noticed if you rev the engine up a lot, it always comes back to idle with a gnarly misfire that clears up instantly after revving it again. It's not isolated to any one cylinder and I've tried calibrating the TPS already. Next thought would be a MAF I guess but not sure, any thoughts?

Flipper made his Road Atlanta debut last Sunday during an SCCA Shush session. Way too much fun, but unfortunately I was having some issues near the end of the day with the car breaking up at WOT and high RPM. I'm thinking there's some fuel pump issues (not the nicest install of an in tank pump that doesnt quite fit plus it makes way too much noise for a factory pump). I have a walbro 485 not being used right now that I'll try to make a clean install of and see if that solves some of my issues. Used a track timer app and it said the fastest I ran was a 2:04.2. Reading on the internet some, I should be able to get well into the 1:50s with a properly functioning engine and some drivemod, that's the goal for next year!
