You guys buying? I'll also need the cam to match ;)
I appreciate the offers, but at this point I really don't feel comfortable putting pricey hot-rod parts on this old farm truck. I have no doubt it would look cool though.
I remember looking for an Offenhauser tri-power for my Impala's six. The manifold alone was $300, then people were wanting $200 each for beat up old Rochester singles!
Short story long, my engine stayed stock
Still though:
Sadly, the GMC parts are slightly different there. 1.5 inches longer and much more rare $$ than the chevy counterparts.
Triples? Ha. Load it up!
I'll stick with stock.
Out comes one dead 228 straight 6. When I pulled the drain plug, bright green antifreeze poured out for a few seconds before very black oil.
Think I also understand why I see so many cabs pulled off during engine swaps.
Well, since last update in this here build thread, This happened.
So, I finally got it apart and salvaged the bellhousing I needed. Darn clutch and brake pedals mount to it. Can't say I've ever taken an engine this far apart before. #2 Piston is still stuck in the block and it's not moving.
Those are some bigass bearing journals for an engine making, what, 100hp? I expect on modern diesel spec oil any example still running with good pressure should go until the sun burns out.

Outstanding! I love the Clarksonesque hammer next to the head!
Missed this thread the first time around somehow. Looks like you're banging away at it (ha!).
