Evan, do you use a rally specific tire or a street tire?

I use gravel rally tires. Although my first season was run on snow tires. If you lurk on the special stage classifieds you can find used 14 rally tires occasionally.

Miata's First Rallycross - VIDEO She performed decently for worn out autocross tires. Lots of fun!

Looking good! I wish my Miata was some color other than red.

How do you find hard top Miatas at that price?

I am super jealous, since this is the direction I want to go in.

Constant Craigslist searching of all surrounding cities is my best advice.

That's my plan. I also think I need to enlist the help of a buddy of mine who drives all over the region for his job.

I hope to get the konis and NB hats on this weekend to massage the ride height. My Dad (co owner) loves these wheels but I'm not a big fan. I think they look to big and bulky. I'm going to clean up and use the 14"s while the car is in my possession. I would love to find a deal somewhere on 15x7. That size just looks right and has a much better tire selection.

So. Damn. Good. Another inch of lowering and I'd DD the crap out of that. I love B&T NA's.

Sweet! What kind of car are you building? There's a rallyX going down Nov 17 at Eastbay raceway in Tampa.

The car looks great. Can't wait to see it run at the Challenge.

I was considering running the Tampa RallyX as well. I've never run one so it could be interesting, especially in a car that I have almost 0 seat time in.

Doing some experimenting with the spring booster. I had to cut it into pieces and do some trimming to get it in place - but the preliminary results are promising. I also ordered some snow tires. I should be much better prepared for the next rally event.

That looked like a really fun, more so than regular auto-x

Maybe I need to lower the suburban down and get some smaller tires

I would say it is indeed more fun than regular autocross. They allow SUVs too if you feel like giving it a try! Do it! There is an event Nov 17 in Tampa at Eastbay Raceway. Come on out.

Very similar to your, somewhat dual purpose. I have an autocross area really close to me, buy am looking to have some fun in the gravel. I wanted to be ready for Nov 17, but its just not going to happen. Im building an '89 mustang gt, looking to now be ready for the event in Ocala in Jan.

Cool, it would be fun to have a Mustang rippin it up out there!

I finished 31st out of 40 $2013 challengers. Not great, but I had a blast! Autocross was going to be my strong event, but we dealt with rain all day. The R-compound tires weren't much help on the wet surface and I turned a slightly faster time on my mis-matched street tires during some fun-runs. I got 16th out of 40 in the autocross portion and most of those quicker times were turned by the pro drivers - very few teams actually drove their own cars.

I know everyone was waiting for the next E36 M3box update, so here you go! The spring boosters worked decent for a couple of rally-x events, but after inspection, several of them had cracked in half. So, we decided to spring for the $50 ebay coilovers. There is definitely some improvization needed to get these things to work but I'm impressed with the ride height range at this point. I'll add that only one corner is "done" so far. Hopefully the fronts result in a similar range. The springs supplied are all the same height and spring rate - obviously not ideal.
