Like the way you are making those snakes fit in there.

Spent the first 6 hours of garage day doing 3 seasonal tire swaps and 2 oil changes, plus cleaning up a big spill in the driveway because I'm really not that bright.  Had some dinner, picked up an online order from Advance, then decided to do a little work on the headers.

You don't have to look too hard to see a couple of warts where I built up to close off a couple of blow-through spots. Driver side header isn't going to be as swanky as passenger side, due to the cylinder pairings of the tri Y design. I think it'll be OK though.

EDIT: clamped them together on the table and decided to increase swankification of driver side. It's gonna be much better. This is the pre-swankification:

It works pretty well, but I'm AC-limited in the garage and I've popped my 110 breaker several times when pouring the coal to aluminum. Sometimes arc doesn't start with the pedal, maybe 5% of the time. Weird. I bought it used at a good price so I'm still happy enough with it.

I've found if you gently tough the electrode to the part before starting the arc it makes the start more consistent.  Not sure why but it definitely helps.

I also switched over to exclusively 2% lanthanated tungsten, and I really like it.  You can use it for steel, stainless, or aluminum.  AC or DC.  Works really well.  I especially like it for aluminum - very stable arc.

Today, while patching a blow-through, I realized my superpower is making TIG beads look like stick beads.

Got #1 primary figured out while on the GRM zoom call tonight:

got a lot of welding to do the next couple days. Too tired to do anything more than tack it tonight and snap some pix.

Pipes being different lengths makes the diameters and positions look a little odd. Tying the vertical pairs together with collectors will help that.

I have that same power. But apparent mine is much stronger! (my tig method is to melt a bunch of metal, and then try to move it around a bunch)

Angry, the secret ingredient to strong welds is thick paint. Always never forget that.

Headers are looking good!

Mine is making reasonably attractive TIG welds next to the joint.  One of the things I'm really looking forward to after my last COVID shot is getting new glasses...

Ooh, I like this tig super power discussion. My tig welding super power is making the most perfect and beautiful welds where you can't see them. And making the visible ones look a bit more drunken.

My TIG super power is welding on my back with the pedal between my knees but forgetting to turn my helmet on and blinding myself underneath a crusty truck.
