Oh man, I imagined this post coming before I turned the page, but obviously too late to warn you!

In reply to vwcorvette (Forum Supporter) :

there might be an optional frame for holding corrective lens, I don't recall. I got a 1.5x magnifier lens that sticks to the inside via suction cup, gonna give that a try today.

I figured it was too late to warn you too......the rays from welding are not good for you!

I even wear long sleeves TIG welding!

Did a lot of work today, but didn't take many pictures. Trimmed the Corvair floor a bit, added a ton of tacks to maybe stiffen up the car a little, finish-welded almost all the rear structure. Burned a million holes in the fleece I was wearing. Yes, I do have a welding jacket. No, I was not wearing it. But I rocked that Miller balaclava, definitely learned my lesson there.

All you need are a few stitches there & you could tell people you had a lobotomy.

I think Stampie found the next way to make fun of you.

For my part this weekend, I learned to not wear your safety-yellow shirt while welding as the light makes your shirt glow and that makes your eyes hurt whenever you tilt your mask high enough to see your shirt.

*raises hand*

I've torched myself with a MIG as well. Face and forearms while stitch welding some Jeep XJ rear fenders after I cut them and beat them to fit 34s on a mild lift.

I don't ever want to do that again.

I can't unsee Crisp Rat in his Starlord mask from Guardians of the Galaxy every time I see that pic of you wearing the mask.  I love it and it's really cool but I keep hearing 70's mix tape jams in my brain.

Hah, try welding an X-pipe and mufflers on the floor.

While wearing loose shorts.

While sitting with the work piece between your legs because your workbench is full of crap.

I wound up with the most amazingly flash burned inner thighs....

Now with 100% more balaclava:

last couple nights have been short work sessions. Tonight I finished scraping enough of the LR wheelwell to lay some tacks between the panels without burning down the house.

Next step is to bolt the engine crossmember in and assemble the firewall so I can mark and cut vents in the panel below rear window, then fab the permanent close-outs. Then fab 2 more attachments between C5 frame and Corvair unibody, then reassembly begins.

Holy E36 M3, did I just say that?!?!

Hello cardboard, my old friend...

after putting the firewall pieces back in place, I mostly just sat and stared

and thought about different ways to join the removable pieces to the permanent pieces, and how to ventilate the rear bulkhead without losing all its strength.

I have a plan. A plan that is good enough, and fits the theme. This weekend, I will turn the plan into reality.
