I don't mind the no center caps?

I also don't mind the lack of center caps. I usually spray some black paint on the exposed hardware and call it good. In my experience, track days will melt plastic center caps off anyway.

Michael, have to say, this car is HOT!  What you did within a budget, and a quick time frame is phenomenal.  Sorting out the niggling issues should be light action now.  Carry on.

The center caps for slips look terrible. No center caps vote from me.

Stick aftermarket caps look terrible on most wheels,  and seem to fall off. Hoping to find something different,  aesthetically pleasing, and durable. The no cap look just seems unfinished to me.

Also, tour new avatar of licking the acr is slightly disturbing.....

Thanks all. Im REALLY proud of this one. Only things not done by me and munchkin are spraying paint on the body and mounting tires. This is entirely me and her, in a two car garage and a gravel driveway.

2.44 inches according to the harbor freight calipers. Maybe a chain link fence post cap like i used on the duster?

~2.4" is what I measure to the clips on the 2" ones I have

Gonna have to look at those! Are they flat or domed? The front will need slight domes to clear the axle stub

that was WAY harder than it should be.

But, runs good, took care of the wierd idle warble in the exhaust,  and i have proven repeatedly that its correct.  Even after bouncing the rev limiter.

Reassembley is the reverse of removal. Hopefully test drive today.

Test drive pulled clean up to tev limiter in first and second. Third would cost my license on this particular test loop.

Needs alignment.

Grundy paperwork sent off this morning. For both this and the duster.

To celebrate, ive started wetsanding the rest of the body!

Why did i decide to make it perfect? This is way too much like work at this point.....

Because "Good enough", just isn't?   Good on you getting the mechanicals sorted.

Yeah, i went this far didn't I? Might as well see it through to the end.

And other than alignment,  this this is mechanically finished near as i can tell. Cosmetically its not too far off either!

It's cool to see someone shooting as much (more?) for concours as anything else.

Dusterbd setting the bar for how nice a $2000 racecar can look.

Thanks! I don't think we'll score very high due to lack of innovation,  but we'll definitely win on story! And hopefully set the bar insanely high for best of show....

Keeping mind of perfect concourse, is the Lapis Blue applied in true factory fashion?

Meaning, can we expect sheets of paint to peel? (which this color was notorious for)

Sample

This probably is similar to how you can tell a 60's Mopar restoration instead of a factory original, untouched car... On the restoration, the body panels will line up. They didn't come from the factory that way.

In reply to John Welsh (Moderate Supporter) :

In all honesty I'm a horrible Mopar guy. I expect my paint to stick, my panels to line up, my electrical to keep the smoke in, my fluids to stay where I put them, and my Transmissions to last. None of which Mopar is exactly known for.

I have a problem with the innovation score, but it's not my gig.

I brought a Miata to the autocross only Challenge.  Not a lot of innovation needed to bring the right tool for the job.

Not a bad idea!

Also, grundy says this is not a collector car. They won't insure it. Nice.

Guess its time to call hagerty for my fleet.
