Not a full build thread, but a project involving fabrication and welding nonthe less. Needed something to do this week-end so decided to toss a set of floors in the 1966 MGB.

Originals are a bit crusty.

First order of business was to use a sawzall to cut out the big pieces. This is done from below, following the edges of the frame sections. Then the bits on top that cover the frame sections are cut out. This leaves a 1" strip everywhere that the floor was spotwleded to the frame. Normally I use a spotweld cutter to remove the strips. This time, I decided to use the air chisel. Worked quite well.

You can see the strip cut out of the top of the DS crossmember. Removing the middle bit makes it much easier to peel off the two remaining strips.

Unfortunately, what was lurking under the noise dampener up in the toeboard was not good. Had to cut way up into the firewall. Time to fabricate something.

Bit of tin and measuring and maybe even some bashing with a hammer:

Same story on PS but not as bad:

Healthy application of Chassis Saver rust encapsulator,

And thats as far as I made it today. Still waiting on the new floorpans to arrive.
